Ramon Raphael "Muy" C. Maglaya, Jr.

Bio

Ramon Raphael "Muy" C. Maglaya Jr. is a devoted guitarist and passionate musician, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree Major in Guitar Performance at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Conservatory of Music. His musical journey began under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Alberto O. Mesa and now continues under the mentorship of Dr. Ivar-Nicholas Fojas. He took masterclasses with guitarists Monching Carpio and Joseph Mirandilla.

Muy is a member of the award-winning Sibol Guitar Octet (formerly the UST Guitar Octet), the core performing group of the UST Conservatory of Music Guitar Ensemble.

He served as the Chief Artist Director of UST Musikat in 2018–2019, was the Public Relations Officer of the UST Guitar Department from 2021–2023, and is currently serving as the President of the UST Guitar Department for the academic year 2025–2026.

Joshua Royeca was the very first bass teacher of our guitar faculty and has been with us since July 2020. He is a double bass player of the University of the Philippines Symphony Orchestra and the bassist of the wedding band 3rd Avenue.

Ukulele

The ukulele is a member of the lute family of instruments. It generally employs four nylon strings. The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese machete.
