Bio
Maria Isabella "Via" Valencia is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, with a minor in Musicology, at the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Music under the tutelage of Dr. Clement Acevedo. She has participated in a number of Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines (PTGP) Piano Festivals, and has also taken part in masterclasses with internationally acclaimed artists such as George Harliono, Joseph-Maurice Weder, Jerzy Michal Maciejewski, and Aima Maria Labra-Makk.
Alongside her training as a pianist, Via has cultivated a strong academic and research-oriented perspective through her Musicology minor. She has presented several piano recital-lectures that integrate performance with scholarly inquiry, and has actively participated in and organized student recitals throughout her undergraduate course.
Complementing her work as a solo pianist, Via also engages in collaborative music-making as an active chorister and multi-instrumentalist specializing in Philippine indigenous music. She has performed with numerous ensembles over her 15 years of musical experience. Among these are UP Tugtugang Musika Asyatika (TUGMA) and the University of the Philippines Symphony Orchestra (UPSO) Chorus.
